- Fed Stats: The main portal for finding government statistics. The government really has tried to make this accessible, but if you don’t know what you’re looking for, it may be hard to find at this site.
- US Census Bureau: This site gives you access to all Census data, whether about people, businesses, trade, and much more.
- Quick Facts: a wide variety of information about population characteristics at the state or county level.
- The “Economic Census”: compiled every five years, with detailed information on business activity.
- County Business Patterns: the nitty gritty about businesses in an area, down to zip-code level.
- HUD State of the Cities Data System (SOCDS) Quick Link Retrieval
- Earnings and Employment Data for Workers Covered Under Social Security and Medicare: by State and County, 2004 (released August 2007)
- BEA: help to measure economic impacts in your area. BEA’s regional input-output modeling system (RIMS) is widely used to analyze the economic impact of projects and events on state and local areas. Public and private analysts purchase RIMS estimates from BEA in order to measure these impacts on jobs and labor-related earnings.
